How to make a 3 Ingredient Clay Mask

I didn’t realize how very easy it was to make a clay mask or I would have done it sooner in my life! I have been paying up to $40 dollars for a tub of clay mask. Then I started making my homemade bath and body products and realized that I can make a clay mask mixture for pennies! The huge plus is that I know exactly what is in the mask and you don’t need a preservative because you can keep it in dry form and just mix as needed.

This is such a simple clay mask recipe. I mean 3 ingredients simple. Clay, in powder form; good oil such as jojoba, sweet almond or olive, and an essential oil.

Clay

There are a lot of different types of clay on the market today. The ones we use for our products depend on what we are trying to achieve. Whether that is to add moisture to the face or remove toxins or dry out oily spots. Some of my favorite clays to use are Kaolin, French Green, Rose Clay and Bentonite Clay. They all have slightly different mineral contents and do slightly different things. However, They all work well for this recipe.

Oils

The Type of oil that you choose for your skin will vary person to person. I love sweet almond oil but I do not use it in the products that I make to sell because people have nut allergies that react to almond oil. I usually go for Jojoba oil because it is my favorite over all oil. It is light and soaks in nicely and doesn’t have a strong scent like olive oil.

Essential Oils

Essential oils are powerful tools in the skin car and health industry. They each have their own unique properties and benefits. I love to use lavender essential oil because of its many attributes. So that is what we are using in this recipe but there are lots of different essential oils that you can substitute.

Relax

Mix these three ingredients together then start the bath fill it full of bubbles, light some candles and indulge in a home spa.

Easiest recipe you’ve ever made right?

clay Mask

Depending on the type of essential oil you are using you may need to add more or less the the specified amount. I use about 3 drops of lavender oil per batch. If you are using something more mellow you can add more. If you are using something strong then use caution. This is going on your face, a very sensitive skin. Do a small test batch and test on the back of your hand first.
