Lavender Lemon Curd
The Best Lavender Lemon Curd recipe! Sweet and tart with the added elegance of lavender. This lavender lemon curd will have you doing the good food dance. Mmmm, mmm I put it in everything from frosting for fruit pizza to blueberry crepe filling.
I lived in England for a short time where I first had this amazing condiment. With British Scones and clotted cream this beautiful sauce will change your world (I say that a lot, it must be true). Anyway, every time I travel I have to try the best most authentic foods of the area. And then, I have to recreate them using the best home grown fruits and vegetables.
Luckily my indoor Meyer Lemon Tree is drooping with fresh lemons just begging to be made into lemon curd. My personal favorite way to use this lemon curd is to put it in a fresh crepe with blueberries then drizzle with fresh cream. Lemon Cream Blueberry crepes, doesn’t that name just make your mouth water. YUM.
Easiest Instructions
Basically all you have to do is put all the ingredients in a pot and heat it up until it thickens and then add just a few drops of lavender essential oil. So easy, and such a unique delicious treat.
I’ve put this on literally every sweet treat I can think of. One of the best ways to use this recipe is the “sauce” for fruit pizza. So easy! All you need to do is make the recipe then add 8 oz. of cream cheese. Spread it on our favorite Sugar cookie recipe then decorate in sweet designs.
Lavender Lemon Curd
Tangy and sweet with a surprising hint of lavender
- 2 tsp dried lavender buds (culinary)
- zest of 4 lemons
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2/3 cup lemon juice (about 4 lemons)
- 1 stick butter (softened)
- 4 eggs
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 5 drops Lavender Essential Oil (culinary)
In a mortar and pestle grind the lavender buds then add the zest of the lemons. Add sugar to the lavender and lemon zest and mix. Juice the lemons.
In a 1 quart stock pot add sugar mixture and eggs and mix completely. Turn on the heat and add the lemon juice continue stirring and add in the butter and salt, stir. (Do not stop stirring until the mixture has come together and thickened. Turn of heat just as it begins to simmer. Add 5 drops of lavender oil and stir. Let it cool and apply to any dessert.
